RPG Pinball is a low-poly 3D pinball game that takes an interesting spin on normal pinball tables by incorporating numerous RPG elements into it. Players have lives, resources, spells, experience, and levels in which they can gain. Quests can be picked up from the tavern, and completed to earn rewards. After multiple quests are completed, players are then tasked with the ultimate challenge of defeating an epic boss. How far can you go—what level can you reach?
Working in a team of 4 people, this project was completed over the span of 1 month. First, our team was tasked with creating a basic prototype of a standard pinball game. After getting all the mechanics down for our base prototype, we then had to put our own “stamp” on the game, and make it our own. After multiple concepts and ideas were discussed / debated / tested, we were finally able to implement and create RPG Pinball. I personally worked on almost all aspects of the game, whether it was documentation, leveling building, scripting, or creating a majority of the art assets used in the game (all art assets are custom made by us).
To get a quest, hit the ball up the tavern stairs. Each quest rewards you with XP. Each level gained gives a free ball. Every 5th quest will be a boss fight. Each time a boss is defeated a permanent +.5 score multiplier is added, but bosses get exponentially harder.
To get a new spell shoot the ball into the mage tower in the upper left corner. There are three spells in the game: 2x Multiplier (lasts 20 seconds), Shield (blocks the center drain), and Swap (Exchanges all wood and ore for XP). You can only have one spell at a time. The first time you pick up a spell, it is free. Each additional pickup costs 10 ore. If you have a spell, but you want a different one, you can cycle to the next spell by getting the ball into the mage tower.
