Rensa is a 3D strategic/pattern based board game, in which 2 players go head-to-head to score the most points. Each player is assigned their own side of the board, along with 3 tiles that are visible to everyone. Each player takes turns drawing a tile and placing one onto their side of the board. The goal of the game is to score the set amount of points by completing ‘sets’ (3 same colored tiles horizontally or vertically) and ‘rensa’ (same colored tiles connected to the set). The more tiles you can connect—the more points you can get! But look out, because players can also complete ‘sets’ and ‘rensa’ using tiles on your side of the board! The game is both easy to pick-up, yet has depth in its strategic gameplay.
This game was created by myself over the course of 3 weeks. I was tasked by my teacher to create a game based on the theme of “Chain-Reaction”; we were given complete freedom as long as it followed the theme, whether it be analog or a video game. Except for the sounds, everything within the game was custom made by myself which includes: game logic, menus, art assets, etc.
